Got stir crazy today and decided it was time to get the wheels spinning and burn some calories. As I pumped up my tires I noticed a fairly large depression in about a 1/2″ to 1″ area on my rear tire. It didn’t “fill out” when I inflated the tire to 120psi so I decided to make a pit stop over at Bicycle Heaven.

They inspected the tire and after hearing that I had over a thousand miles on them suggested it might not be a bad idea to start looking for a new set.

With that, my Felt F75 is now sporting a new set of Vittoria Rubino Pro tires. I stuck with the Vittoria brand since the old tires served me well with great flat resistance and dependability.

With the new tires installed, I hit the pavement for a “quick and easy” 15 mile ride. I blazed a new path by modifying the Timberwood Park loop by staying on Blanco road past Specht Road.

The result? Big hills on Blanco and Amman road that I’d never encountered before. Hills that kept my heart rate up and my speed down. In the end, a really great cardio workout with some serious time in Zone 4 and Zone 5.

The ride took just a tad over an hour to complete and after loading up my bike I got a text page from my better half that supper was on the oven and waiting for her “road warrior.”

Nice!

(I even made it home in time to see the incredible kick-off and record setting touchdown by Chicago in the opening moments of the Super Bowl).
