Despite my lack of blogging lately, a lot has been happening. First, I’d like to point out a new feature of the blog for those of you with cycling GPS units or simply those of you that want to print cycling maps. On the right side of this page I have a real-time updated “My Recent Rides” section which links to cycling log on Motionbased.com. You’ll find all the detail on recent rides and if you live in San Antonio, you can load up your bike and do the same route!
I’m proud to say that our recent family event at the Conquer The Coast cycling event was featured on Garmin’s blog. I can’t say enough great things about a company that is so in touch with its customers! And you already know how I feel about their outstanding line of fitness GPS units!
My latest ride was simply outstanding. My brother-in-law, David, has been joining me on rides as he steadily prepares himself for next year’s Valero MS-150 (which I will also be doing). Even after just a few rides, I’ve noticed how he has improved. He joined me for some intimidating hills on Blanco and Amman roads on Saturday morning.

Despite an initial, chilly descent, we were soon pedaling in morning sun with white-tailed deer around every corner. Fortunately, the nearly silent hum of a bicycle rarely startles them and we just buzz past them as they try to figure us out!

I’m looking forward to the weeks and months ahead. We’re fortunate to have nearly year-round cycling here in beautiful San Antonio, Texas. Time to dig out the leg and arm warmers and get the Under Armour ready for some cycling duty!

Ride safe!
