It has begun…

2 days ago, snow, today temps around 70!

The “Year of the Bike” as I’ve described 2011 is finally starting to get some traction, despite Mother Nature.  She’s been working hard to sabotage my efforts with one of the highest recorded days of mountain cedar in the air and most recently the “South Texas Blizzard of 2011″ which just ended a day ago and left a nice layer of snow everywhere.

Yes.  Snow.  In San Antonio.

My bicycle commuting has started to pick back up and I’ve now completed two consecutive weekend training rides with my small and sometimes reliable cycling team, “Team Felt” (aka a group of 5 guys that all own Felt road bicycles – I know, creative name…we spent a long time picking the name).

Why is 2011 the “Year of the Bike”?  That’s easy to answer.  Last month I turned 40, so it’s time to set a tone for the next decade and last year, I was in some of the best shape of my life and had zero bicycle events to prove it.  This year?  The pendulum will swing far in the other direction – I will do at least 2-3 bicycle tours and at least 3 or more large cycling events.  Hopefully the end result of this will finally result in meeting some long overdue weight loss goals.

So, 2011, here me roar!  My five bicycles and I are ready to make this a year to remember!
