Joe - good point, I'd forgotten about replacing the default bag and purchasing the upper bag. The storage bag would work just fine for groceries, but I like the market bag and definitely get utility out of purchasing the upper bag as well. Like you, even with the extra expense I find the Travoy's ability to convert just about any bicycle into a workable utility bike is worth it.

Your right about the price. I love my Travoy, but I no longer drive a car and I can justify the expense for carrying goods. The base price of $280 includes the trailer, hitch and storage bag, which is marginally useful for carrying things. Your setup includes the lower market bag and the upper transport bag, an additional $150 at retail. The reality is the Travoy is a useful $430 trailer. I think it's worth it. Many won't.

Hi,
After two years have just rediscovered this site. Back in June 2009 I said I would after buying a Trek Valencia keep you updated. So how has it gone? I must saay I think it has to be the best bike I bought and I have had a few across the years. It has been totally reliable and apart from a pair of Continental winter tyres it has cost me nothing more as yet. Mechanical disc brakes have been brilliant and gears have hardly needed any attention. It helped using my trusty Brooks saddle and with that it has been the most comfortable bike I have ridden. Have used it purely for town riding so cannot comment on trail or touring though I would think it would be okay. It is due for a good service in the spring and I look forward to many years enjoyment on my Valencia.
As an aside I looked at A Trek Soho at a Bike shop in Redruth, Cornwall and it did not look a patch on the Valencia!!

Judy - there are many safe options and routes you can choose from where you can ride your bicycle car free. Do you live in San Antonio? If so, I can e-mail you some routes.

Would like to start riding my bike again but I'm afraid to ride in traffic. This sounds like a ride I would like to do in a quiet area! Do you have a list of areas (with maps)that you recommend for beginners like me? I keep putting off the ride(s) because of the busy streets! Your posting reminds me how sweet it is to ride and be in the moment - yearning for that experience! Thanks!
